So Marisa and her 2 BFF have been conniving a way to make some money, because they want to go shopping. So what do us 3 moms do? We talk and decide to offer the girls a Moms/Daughters shopping day. December 1. No specific details just yet, but we are planning to go shopping and out to lunch. Maybe to Gurnee Mills or some other big mall.
Friday night on the way home from swim practice, Marisa asks me if the 3 moms will agree to stand outside of any stores the 3 girls decide to go in, and not participate in any clothing purchase decisions. Um, yeah, right. As if.
I very calmly explained that we were doing this to spend some time together, AS MOMS AND DAUGHTERS, not chauffeurs. Also that while I would not stand OUTSIDE of any stores, I would not go into the dressing room with her. She seemed to accept that compromise, at least for now.
*sigh* Only 19 days to go. Maybe I should update my will.

Wow. So that kind of stuff kicks in around 10, huh?
My mom and I still do mom/daughter shopping days every now and then. She is very good at talking me into buying things. Sometimes, that's a good thing. Sometimes I end up buying stuff I probably wouldn't buy if she weren't there to encourage me.
I haven't been to Gurnee Mills in a really long time. I should head up that way. I think there's a Coach outlet around there and I have some gift certificates to spend.
I used to like going shopping with my mom because she'd bring items into the dressing room for me to try on. I wouldn't have to get undressed and dressed several times, each time I wanted to try on more choices.
Aww, that's so cool! I can't imagine letting DD make her own decisions on clothes though. I do bite my tongue if I just don't like something, but I always need to be there to make sure it's decent/modest.
You'll have fun! Let us know how it goes. :)
It's tough being a mom to preteens and teens! So far (my eldest is 13.5) I've never conceded in having a Veto in their choices for clothing (or anyting else!). I think you are Awesome to stand up and say.."ok, but I still will make the final decision." I think kids need this and you are a great mom to be willing to see the compromise in the big middle!
I must be naive, I think my DD would make good clothes choices. *shrug*
Good music choices are another story. Did you know that Hannah Montana and Rhianna sound nothing alike and I must be some crazy old geezer to think they do?
But Breezy, you also like line dancing and singing karoake LOL.
*runs for the hills*
*whacks Nookie*
I bet Breezy thinks Fergie sounds like Hannah and Rhianna too.
I am so glad I don't have a girl. So glad. *grin*
Boo; the day Marisa was born my mom told me it was a very good day, because she knew there would be payback. I now know what she meant.
LOL.
I tell Conner that I can't wait for him to have a little boy to drive him crazy.
Yikes. Good luck to you. *giggle*
