I needed a timeout earlier tonight from Marisa. She is in the major attitude stage, and I want to smack her multiple times a day. So I decided to walk down the driveway to get the mail. We have a 300 foot driveway, so this serves as a good time out.
I open up the mailbox and see on top of the mail a little package! Ooo, it is addressed to me! And it is marked "small packet/petit paquet"! I look at the return address, and it is a name I am familiar with. I am wondering what he is sending to me, and that he took the time to send this to me even though he is busy moving! Of course I could not wait until I got back up the driveway to open the petit paquet, so I tucked the rest of the mail under my arm and proceeded to rip open said paquet. Inside I find a card and a box of Altoids. What an odd gift, since I have never once mentioned whether or not I like Altoids. But hey, it's ok. I open the box, and inside is wrapped very carefully this lovely pin!
Thank you very much History Detective! You made my day!

Oh DF, that is so pretty and thoughtful. Wow.
Why are all the good ones wormsupbraviesass?!
Congrats to the son on his swim meet (yes, I'm too lazy to post in the other post) and I'm happy for you and him that Grandpa got to see it. Sometimes I think Grandparents don't "get it" when they haven't experienced that life.
*smooch
Yeah, exactly how is it that she has the market covered on OT? Harumph.
Poor you and having to deal with a budding tween girl. Ugh. They are so cute, but so frustrating.
What a neat pin and I love getting a surprise in the mail, don't you?
I love surprise gifts, especially when they arrive in the mailbox. That's just lovely!
HD is pretty awesome like that. He really is. I still have a card that he sent to me a few years back when I was really going through the ringer with Conner being sick all the time.
Don't you just love mail like that? The kind you have to rip open right there. My goal is to eventually get myself on track to send more snail mail out to my friends. I made some stuff this weekend, but most of it was for Conner's birthday.
By the way, I have been meaning to get over here to talk swimming with you. I have really been doing a lot of it - a lot of laps at the pool when I can. On Friday I swam at lunch at the gym. It wasn't the best day because of a major cleaning issue going on, so I accidentally inhaled some major bleach fumes. But I'm fine now.
I swam two nights last week while Conner was having lessons. Then Friday at lunch, then Saturday evening.
I am up to 11 laps, which is a quarter mile, and on Saturday I stretched it to 15. I do have to rest quite a bit, but I'm doing it. So I have thought of you with this and of your children.
The Olympics is so freaking awesome to watch. I know, know, know, know, know you all are enjoying the swimming parts.
Congrats Boo, on your swimming! I can't do that, I just watch.
I have to ramp up my exercise levels. I'm just lazy.
